Here is a little video I made of my son, Ford.

The thought bubbles are real, held up by my wife, and the text inside them were comp’ed in. The motion tracking wasn’t too hot. I rushed it out and DV isn’t the best format to get a track off.

Anyways, enjoy.

the Re-design

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

There’s a time in all blogs’ life when a redesign is mandated. This past week was spent delving into the murky depth of CSS and php calls, until finally through the heavy canopy light came shining through- in the form of my own wordpress template.

This is been a bit of an experiment by we to see how to go about designing something for the web, and it is a little trickier than I thought. The tutorial over at urbangiraffe helped a whole lot.

Between posts, you can catch up with me on the mustard flava podcast.

A pet peeve

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

I’m writing this while working on a project for Proeye Visual Productions. I’m to make their corporate showreel. Cool, I’m totally into it.

So I’m looking at all the companies that we have produced content for and trying to find their hi res corporate logos on the internet.

Now. This isn’t the first time I’ve had to do this. At Burbank, and with free lancing, it was a pretty common thing. Needing a high res copy of a logo to use.

So, note to companies: a media/ press page on your website with high res downloads of your logo would be the coolest thing ever.

We’re back from holidays and a big early-year project. Yarrawonga, wakeboarding, skiing; it all was fun.

Some big news is that we’ve just been working on the Proeye Visual Productions promo dvd. The showreel is for the upcoming Bridal Show. We totally revamped the menu design and interactivity. It was a real lesson in intergrating the Final cut pro suite and After effects, and managing all the assets that resulted from the production. Expect a big post about my new favourite tool- Expressions…

Hey, my first blog.

Sunday, October 16th, 2005

Well, this is the FunkLab. My very first blog.
A big shoutout to Jolane and our big friend djp for setting this up.
Now I can work my niche in this web and move in the great footsteps of those that have gone before me, like John C Divorak, Kevin Rose, and Adam Christianson.
ha ha.

To start off, a little about myself.
I’m Simon McRae, married, 25 and working as a DVD Producer. Film and video are my bread and butter, and anything techy I love. I guess my likes and dislikes will come out more in this blog.

And now the washing has to be put out.
